Current Topic

We have an action packed half term during the Spring term with our topic theme On Safari. Our Nursery environment has been enhanced to fit our theme and the children are already very excited to learn more! Have you got any favourite books that you would like to share? Please see Mrs Neesome or Mrs Rudram for more information.

Children will be learning in our provision both inside and outside the classroom. As the weather is still cold children will still need to be wrapped up warm. Please send children with appropriate outdoor clothing and additional footwear (e.g. waterproof coats and wellies).

Our current focus for reading is suggesting how a story might end, listening to stories with increasing attention and recall and starting to describe the main story setting. The books we will be focusing on are Harry and the Bucketful of Dinosaurs and Dinosaurs Love Underpants.

This half term we are focusing on environmental sounds and instrumental sounds. Please help your child to 'tune into the sounds' everyday as you walk to and from school e.g. the wind whistling.

We will also be learning phase 2 letter sounds 's' 'a' 't' 'p' 'i' 'n'.

Our  number focus for this half term is recognising numbers to 10 and counting 2 groups of objects together to find the total.

Our shape, space and measures focus is recognising and naming 2D shapes and their properties e.g. corners and sides.

The online journal we use to record observations of your child has now changed to Thank you for your comments and photos on your child's learning journey.

We use the online assessment tool: Tapestry to observe, assess and plan next steps in your child's development in Nursery. Tapestry will be updated and used as an online journal to record observations of your child’s learning whilst they are in Nursery. You should be able to see and comment on these journals, to celebrate your child's progress with us.

Finally, we would like to thank you for the support you give your child to ensure they reach their full potential (this makes our job much easier!). If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to a staff member during our early bird sessions.

Thank you for your continued support
