The indoor and outdoor provision has been designed to meet the needs of our children to ensure they feel happy, safe and secure. We aim to encourage our children to be independent and self-motivated learners.
As the weather is getting colder please send children in appropriate warm clothing and suitable footwear to access the indoor and outdoor environments. If you wish to send your child with their own wellies please make sure they also have a pair of suitable school footwear.
In reading we are currently focusing on understanding the five key concepts about print. These are; print has meaning, print can have different purposes, we read from left to right and top to bottom, the names of different parts of a book and page sequencing. Reading is such an important life skill and we aim to engage children in reading from a young age.
This half term we are focusing on body percussion, this will develop children's awareness of sounds and rhythms. This aspect will cover how to move in time to a beat and how we can use our bodies to create a beat.
Our number focus for this half term is 1:1 counting (touching each object as you count it) and a deeper understanding of numbers 1 to 3. Look out for our number of the week on Class Dojo and remember to practise at home using your number cards and resources from around your home.
Our shape, space and measures focus is recognising and naming 2D shapes in the environment.
We use the online assessment tool Tapestry to observe, assess and plan next steps in your child's development in Nursery. Tapestry will be updated and used as an online journal to record observations of your child’s learning whilst they are in Nursery. You should be able to see and comment on these journals, to celebrate your child's progress with us.
Thank you for your continued support
