Learning in Nursery
In Nursery the Areas of Learning are...
The Prime Areas:
Personal, Social and Emotional
Communication and Language
The Specific Areas:
Understanding the World
Expressive Arts and Design
The indoor and outdoor provision has been designed to meet the needs of our children to ensure they feel happy, safe and secure. We aim to encourage our children to be independent and self-motivated learners.
As the weather is getting colder please send children in appropriate warm clothing and suitable footwear to access the indoor and outdoor environments. If you wish to send your child with their own wellies please make sure they also have a pair of suitable school footwear.
In reading we are currently focusing on how to hold a book correctly, starting from the beginning of the book and showing an interest in the illustrations.
Please look out for our Book of the Week on Class Dojo!
This half term we are focusing on body percussion, see Class Dojo for ideas to support at home. We will also be continuing to learn phase 2 letter sounds /s/a/t/p/i/n/ and recognising and saying the letter sounds in our names.
Our number focus for this half term is 1:1 counting (touching each object as you count it) and a deeper understanding of numbers 1 to 5. Look out for our number of the week on Class Dojo and remember to practise at home using your number cards and resources from around your home.
Our shape, space and measures focus is recognising and naming 2D shapes in the environment.
The online journal we use to record observations of your child has now changed to tapestry.journal.com. Thank you for your continued support with this, we really enjoy reading your comments and thank you for sharing your photos from home too.
We use the online assessment tool Tapestry to observe, assess and plan next steps in your child's development in Nursery. Tapestry will be updated and used as an online journal to record observations of your child’s learning whilst they are in Nursery. You should be able to see and comment on these journals, to celebrate your child's progress with us.
Finally, we would like to thank you for the support you give your child to ensure they reach their full potential (this makes our job much easier!). If you have any questions or concerns, please speak to a staff member in the morning or send a message via Class Dojo.
Thank you for your continued support
