School Governors

The Governors

A Meeting of the Board of Governors is held each term.  The Minutes of this Meeting are available for inspection in school.  All Governors can be contacted via the school should parent/carers wish to speak to them.

The Governing Body is responsible for setting out the aims of Windhill Primary School, managing the budget and appointing staff.  The Governing Body and staff are jointly responsible to ensure that the education, wellbeing and welfare of the children are carried out to the highest degree.

The Governing Body ensures that  we have the capacity to raise overall standards and continually improve.  Ofsted considers the Governing Body to be part of the leadership of the school, though governors do not manage the school, that is the job of the Headteacher and Leadership Team.  However they do oversee the development of the school and act as a ‘critical friend’ to ensure we always provide a high standard of education to the inclusion of all pupils.

At Windhill Primary School we are fortunate to have a dedicated team of Governors who are actively involved in all aspects of school life.

The Governing Body also has two Sub Committees which are Called CAST and Resources:

CAST:

The Remit of this Committee is to:

  • To provide support and guidance on all matters relating to personnel and the appointment of staff

  • To cover all aspects of Achievement, Standards and Leadership

  • Curriculum and pupil attainment

Resource:

The remit of the Committee:

  • Covers all Buildings and Premises, including H&S and security

  • Financial Management of the School

Head Teacher’s Performance Management Committee:

The remit of this Committee is to:

  • Meet with the Standards and Effectiveness Partner (LA) to carry out the annual review of the overall performance of the Head Teacher
